Date: January 01, 2026
Venue: Tehsil Shahdadpur, District Sanghar, Sindh

Transparency International Pakistan (TI Pakistan), in collaboration with the Sindh Green Foundation (SGF), Sanghar, organized a Free Legal Advice Camp in Tehsil Shahdadpur, District Sanghar, Sindh. Held on January 01, 2026, the free legal camp aimed to provide cost-free legal assistance to communities at the grassroot level and vulnerable groups, helping them seek redress for their grievances and improve access to justice.

Around 42 citizens from different areas of tehsil Shahdadpur attended the camp, including 17 women and 05 persons with disabilities (PWDs). Participants received free legal guidance on a wide range of issues including land and property disputes, inheritance rights, domestic violence, and challenges pertaining to public service delivery. One such complaint pertained to water contamination, causing illnesses among residents. Citizens were advised that the supply of clean drinking water is one of the main functions of the local government which is in place in the Sindh province. Under Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act 2023, complaints can be filed with the local government offices at the UC and district level.

TI Pakistan arranged two lawyers: Advocate Ms. Nausheen Hussain and Advocate Mr. Housh Mohammed Mangi (a male and a female), who engaged with all citizens visiting the legal advice camp, ensuring an inclusive and gender-sensitive environment. The proceedings of the legal camp started with a recitation from the Holy Quran.

Mr. Noor Muhammad Mangi, Executive Director, SGF welcomed the participants and appreciated the efforts of TI Pakistan to engage grassroot civil society actors in bridging the access to justice gap. He highlighted that tehsil Shahdadpur is one of the vulnerable areas of District Sanghar, and emphasized the gap regarding the lack of legal awareness and redress for citizens to raise their voice.

Mr. Saad Aalam, Assistant Project Coordinator, TI Pakistan, informed the community members about the organizations Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC). He highlighted that TI Pakistan is working with different district-level partner organizations to deliver justice to the doorsteps of grassroot communities. He explained the mechanisms through which victims and witnesses of corruption can approach ALAC for legal assistance.

The day concluded with participants feeling more informed and empowered to seek redress for the violation of their rights.
