Free Legal Advice Camp
Event: Free Legal Advice Camp
Venue: District Usta Muhammad, Balochistan
Date: May 28, 2026
On May 28, 2026, Transparency International Pakistan in collaboration with Nisa Development Organization organized a Free Legal Advice Camp in District Usta Muhammad, Balochistan province. The primary objective of the camp was to provide free legal assistance to the victims and witnesses of corruption, while also bringing essential legal services closer to communities.
The legal camp was opened by Ms. Noorjehan, Executive Director, Nisa Development Organization. Ms. Nasreen Memon, Project Coordinator, Transparency International Pakistan, informed the community members about the ALAC initiative. She explained the participants on the procedures and mechanisms through which individuals can approach TI Pakistan for legal assistance, seeking redress for their grievances.
The free legal advice camp was attended by more than 60 community members, including 35 women and 01 person with disabilities. Citizens sought guidance on issues such as domestic violence, inheritance rights, early child marriages, property disputes, and challenges related to local government service delivery. Two legal experts namely Advocate Mir Sarfraz, a lawyer at the Sindh High Court, and Advocate Abdul Sattar Satakzae engaged participants in the provision of legal assistance.
Participants attending the legal camp raised several important issues affecting their daily lives, governance, and access to basic rights and services. The cases reported at legal camp included inheritance rights, domestic violence, poor health service delivery despite the allocation of funds, and other governance and local government related matters. The lawyers advised complainants that women have legal right to rightful share of inheritance and legal action can be taken against any violation through courts. Complainants were also informed about a legal procedure for inheritance matter i.e. the process of obtaining succession certificate through National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).
On the lack of transparency in public service delivery, community was made aware of social accountability tools such as Balochistan Right to Information Act 2021 through which information can be requested from public bodies on budgetary allocations and their utilization. Participants were also briefed that TI Pakistan through ALAC takes up complaints with the authorities where there is a violation of rules and regulations.
The ALAC Legal Advice Camp in Usta Muhammad reflected TI Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and access to justice for marginalized communities. Through such grassroots initiatives, TI Pakistan aims to empower citizens with legal awareness, strengthen public trust in institutions, and encourage communities to actively raise their voices against violation of their rights and poor governance to seek remedial action.
