Focus Group Discussion on Metropolitan Services

Transparency International Pakistan in collaboration with Human Friends Citizens Community Baord Thul and NARI Foundation organized a Focus Group Discussion in District Sukkur which aimed to discuss Metropolitan Services in the city. The 12 participants comprising of 4 women and 8 males who have a good knowledge about the local government system. Their understanding about citizens’ complaints regarding metropolitan services in the district made the discussion very fruitful. Participants pointed out that the third largest city of the province is facing inadequate municipal arrangements. The garbage on the streets cannot be lifted because there is no effective local governance system. The city is facing water shortages in almost all areas. Drainage and water seepage have destroyed old roads. The roads and streets are not being cleansed properly on daily basis. The FGD also validated the research questionnaire which would be used in the CRC survey followed after the FGD session. The session was also covered in local newspapers.
