Anti-Corruption Coalition Meeting, Hyderabad

With the help of local NGOs from various districts, TI Pakistan established an anti-corruption coalition in Sindh. The first coalition meeting was organized in collaboration with Centre for Peace, Advocacy, Research & Democracy (CARD) in Hyderabad. It was attended by 17 participants from various organizations.

The objective was to work together to suggest recommendations to the government to improve RTI and anti-corruption legislations/policies and practices. Participants worked in groups and suggested various proposals to improve to Right to Information laws and its implementation, Gender/Women Employment Policies, Implementation of pro-women laws, Establishing of complaint mechanism at government offices, Enforcement of Sindh Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2013, restructuring of School Management Committee (SMC) and Voter Education.

TI Pakistan representative Ashfaque Ahmed introduced TI Pakistan’s mission, its projects and advocacy campaigns and moderated the session along with Kashif Siddique, President CARD. The participants appreciated the efforts of TI Pakistan and agreed to cooperate with the organization in the fight against corruption. The participants were determinant that in future they will move forward to take this initiative further and work together on sharing information, research and collaborative efforts.
